Hello all;
I have a hp pavilion elite, with specs:
300w power supply
8gb ram ddr2
intel core 2 quad q8200
nvidia geforce 210
1:7.2k sata hdd
1 dvd rw disk reader
so, the problem is that i want to install a nvidia geforce gtx570ti but it needs an 8 pin power and another 6pin one, will this work with the PSU and how can i fit it.

sorry, i dont know a lot about this topic and pc's. Thank you

As I said, you can likely use a GTX 750 if you can find one within your budget, without having to change the power supply. Those cards are primarily designed to be used with OEM systems and do not require supplemental power, so most prebuilt and OEM power supplies will work fine with them.
I don't know of any 300 power supplies that have an 8 pin connector, and there are NONE that would be of suitable capacity to use with them even if there were.

You will either need to install a lower demand card, like a GTX 650 or 750, that only uses slot power (And the performance between the GTX 570 and 750 ti isn't all that far apart anyhow).

Also, just to verify because I didn't remember there BEING a 570 TI, I'm not seeing any evidence either on a Google search nor a search of the Nvidia website that there has EVER been a GTX 570 TI.

Either way, you will likely want a new power supply and in order to know whether a standard ATX power supply can be used with that unit we would need to know the exact model of HP Pavilion Elite, as there could be many different sizes from full size ATX to Small Form factor models within the same series or family.

Simply providing the PSU model number as listed on the PSU would likely be the best way to determine what form factor is compatible with your system.

There is no such card as a GTX 570 Ti, there is only the GTX 570. The reference card can use ~213w by itself(factory oc's model will use more). A core 2 quad 8400 system can use ~126w so I highly doubt your 300w unit will power the system with a GTX 570.

it is a 300w psu, but i have no other details, sorry all but i don't think i will go ahead as my friend also said similar stuff to you, thankyou anyway
