I'm looking forward to purchase this model EVGA GTX285 CLASSIFIED.. My present build is 3.0Ghz Dual Core, 4GB, 2 Sata drives and cooler master 550w extreme power. So my question is that can my PSU power the mentioned GPU?
Always invest in a good PSU or you are asking for trouble. The above post is wrong, and if you plug in your current PSU with the card you could harm or damage both PSU and GPU.
The recommended PSU for the 285 is 550w, The max load is 204w. You should be ok with your PSU. Since you have x2 12v rails @ 20A and 16A = 36A. The GPU requires 24A with two 6 pin connections.
@RFM I use my system for low end gaming(cause of my crappy GPU), the reason for considering this card was that i was getting it for hardly 70$. Are you sure R7 250 is as good as GTX 285?. My budget is 100$
@cabudinen Thanks for the correction. The specified PSU would be way out of my budget, so i guess GTX 285 is not an option anymore.
chimera201 The reason for considering it was the price (70$ - Used).
So guys i guess GTX 285 is out of the consideration. Please suggest whether i should go for Sapphire HD 7750 or HIS R7 250 iCooler. My budget is 100$.
