GPU prevents PSU from working

About a month ago I built myself a
brand new rig. Last night it just shut off randomly after I left it idling for a few minutes. I originally thought the PSU died until this morning when I opened it up and started to test the PSU. I plugged and unplugged every part and the system started up fine with everything except the GPU plugged into the PSU. Trying to turn the system on with the GPU plugged in would result in the PSU fan twitching and turning back off.

My system: Ryzen 5 2600, XFX RX580, 16gb ram

That's what I thought too but how did it run fine for weeks before this happened?

Running your car while the oil light on will work...until it doesn't.

If you want a better guess, informing us as to the actual power supply here would be helpful. We can't make anything other than extremely vague guesses when we're missing crucial information.

Shoot, it would have been easier if you had an obviously junky power supply.

Do you have another rig to test the GPU in? Or another PSU to test?

No, unfortunately not.

Do you have to flip the switch on the PSU to get it to come back on?

I'm not totally sure what you mean by that. Every time I tried to turn it on with the GPU plugged in I'd have to flip the switch on, then press the on button on my case. Then repeat that for every test I did.

I would say the GPU has a problem.
