Gpu problem please help

Hello today I was having a gpu problem I turned on my pc and I smelled at weird burnt electronic smell and my pc would boot for only half a second then turn off when my gpu was connected I took it out and put my old one in that requires no pcie and it works. Does that mean my GPU is dead or is it a problem with my PSU. the gpus fans turn on for a split second as well when booting up

SPECS
FX 6300 OC 4.12
PSU EVGA 450BT
GTX 1060 SSC 6GB (the problem)
gpu that pc works with r7 250

I'd say get a new 500watt psu and see if it works if not then your gpu is prolly dead but I would think its the psu

It doesn't sound good for your expensive 1060. Did you or somebody else spill something on the PC? That's how I killed a GPU a few years ago. Now I don't bring drinks near my PC's.
