Question GPU REACHSES 80 DEGREE WHEN GAMING (ALMOST ALL GAMES)

Hello so I have a zotac GTX 970 it's idle temperature is 39-42 but whenever I play games like fortnite, apex legends, gta v it always reaches 80 degrees and when I try msi kombustor it will reach 87 degrees (*Msi Kombustor = Stress Test)

This is my exact GPU
https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-GTX-970-ZT-90101-10P/dp/B00NNXVPS2

Info:
- Heatsink is tarnished
-Thermal Paste and Thermal pads have been changed, but I do not think the size of the thermal pads are accurate(height)

So heere are my questions:
-It is possible that the heatsink is causing this heat? or it is the graphics card itself?
-How can i solve this (reduce heat)
-Is this also a possible reason why my gpu is underperforming based from my benchmark
https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/16575356

This is a second hand gpu I cannot return it

Well from someone who owned a 970 SSC from EVGA, while gaming my graphic card used to reach around 80C and when idling its at around 40C because the 970 uses a fanless mode which means when it reach a certain degree the fans will start working.

You shouldn't be worried, thats the normal temperature for a 970 card, and if you wanna reduce heat you can set a more aggressive fan curve to the card to run quicker, but i really quicker.
Hello mine is zotac and there is no fanless mode, based from what I have watched from youtube most does not even reach 80 degree

and yes I've already changed the fancurve , I think its around 70-80% fan speed at 80 degree and If I change it to 100 still 80 degree

Still, a 970 GPU reaching 80 degrees ingames is normal, i had an evga one that reached 82C and it was just fine nothing went wrong you shouldn't be worried.
A lot of people that has 970 has a 80C ingames and they're just fine with it, if you're scared enough just add more fans in your case to push/pull cold air in and hot air out.

Just to add my thoughts, I think i'm right in saying the GPU will reach as high as 105 until the GPU throttles it's frequency back to protect itself. So long as you have decent air flow I wouldn't be worried.
