I just got a 7900x and I was looking through bios and it says my GPU is running in x8 and not x16. The 7900x has 44 pcie lanes.

Evga x299 ftw k motherboard
Gtx 1060 6gb gpu

The motherboard book says PE2 - x16 (Gen3, x16 lanes from CPU, x8 shared with PE3). I have the graphics card in PE2. PE1 is a x4 lane for storage cards and things like that.

I know that x8 and x16 doesnt make much of a difference but if it can help with my 1% low and I have 44 lanes to spare then I dont see why not. I shouldn't have any power saving modes enabled in windows, I remember setting it to performance mode.

Download GPUZ and test it inside windows. Its a small simple, easy to understand program. Once installed test it using the "render test" next to bus interface and see if it shows x16
The pcie slot is messed up and I cant get it to post with my gpu in that slot. I put the gpu in a different slot and it ran in x16 no problems. I think it was running in x8 because the pins are bent or something.
