Gpu selection dilemma

Hey, so I've made some forum posts before asking for some advice regarding my future PC, but I keep running into different dilemmas. I will be a junior in high school next year, and I have just completed my summer job, earning enough money to buy my somewhat expensive PC components. The thing is, I just can't decide on the graphics card. I will have about $1,450 when I get paid next, but I don't want to spend all of my money on a PC. This will be my first custom pc build, but I've been studying and researching for enough time that I would say I know a fair amount about computers. I have a few theoretical builds setup, with a gtx 780 powered one and gtx 770 powered one being the two main competitors. On one hand, I have enough to buy the 780 pc at around $1230, but if I go with the 770, it will be about $1100, and I could have some extra cash. It would be nice to save a couple of bucks, and, gaming at 1920x1080p, it is a bit overkill to get a gtx 780, even though part of me would like the bragging rights and "future proofing" abilities that the 780 will provide. Also, I have a very busy schoolyear ahead packed with late night studying and sports. I also owe my little brother $50 and would like to buy my Dad a new pair of (~$100) shoes. I guess I'm just wondering if it would be worth the extra $100~ to get the 780 given my circumstances. Any opinions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks guys

Solution
Get the 770, payback your brother..
780 will only be beneficial on multiple monitors.

Or go r9 280x, similar in performance and more often on sale.

The GTX 770 will be more than enough and future proofed :) Just make sure you get the 4GB Version , Best 4gb Version is the Gigabyte, its ugleh, but very good noise and temps 😉

The 4GB 770 :

if you can wait two weeks the nvidia may be dropping the newer gpu line. may be able to get a faster card for the same price as the 770.

I just read that the 880 will be cheaper and more powerfull then the 780 ti... also they were saying the new line will probably come out in october, but well, nothing is confirmed yet!
