Hello!

I hope this is the right place for this issue as I have never asked for tech support online.

I have been searching the internet for the past week trying to find a fix for my problem, but I can't seem to find a single concrete answer anywhere, it's all just theories and I have tried a lot so far.

So I recently upgraded my PC:

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800x3d
GPU: 4080 Super
MOBO: PRO B650-S Wifi
RAM: 32GB DDR5
PSU: RM850x Shift 850w
I also have four monitors (two with HDMI, two with DP)

So everything worked perfectly fine with no issues. I started by having two displays (main and one secondary) connected to the GPU and two other to the IGPU in the MOBO. I downloaded AMD Adrenaline as it was the recommended drivers from AMD and I noticed in the monitoring tab that the ryzen 7 9800x3d IGPU was drawing 50-100 idle watt. It probably was no issue at all, but I googled if I needed the IGPU enabled and all threads pointed to nope, so I plugged all four of my monitors into my GPU and disabled IGPU in the BIOS.

I also have MSI afterburner enabled to start with windows. Just custom fan curve, nothing else.

As soon as I disabled the IGPU and rebooted, I noticed that only one monitor would get a signal for the first 15seconds, then one by one they would get signal after the first 15 seconds. When finally booting up with all four displays connected, my MSI Afterburner isn't detecting the GPU. The quick fix was just to close the program and reopen it and the GPU was detected again. But this leads me to believe that something that the GPU isn't getting a proper signal on boot, or is slow to get a signal at least.

Re-enabling the IGPU and switching back two displays to the MoBo didn't fix the issue somehow, but that's where it all started.

All games were running smooth, all temps are great, no high idle temps and everything normal, but after I got the GPU slow to be detected-problem, one of two things will happen when I launch a game:

1: The game will instantly crash after 5seconds and display error 1000 and 1001 in Event Viewer, not a single game works.

or 2: the game will run perfectly fine, will never crash and can be played for hours without issues, but the same error messages is displayed in Event Viewer regardless.

If the game would instantly crash, I would reinstall Nvidia drivers and I could once again play, but the error was still displayed in event viewer. I had this issue for about a week until I started reinstalling all drivers: chipset, gpu, programs, etc, but nothing worked.

Last night I completely reinstalled windows and wiped everything, plugged all four displays into the GPU and re-downloaded all drivers in the recommended order from AMD and Nvidia's websites. This seems to have fixed the crashing, it doesn't happen anymore at all, but the GPU is still slow to be detected on boot (works perfectly fine as soon as it's detected and booted up tho) and the error message is somehow still displayed in Event Viewer even though I'm not experiencing any issues. (so far at least)

Here are the error messages from Event Viewer:

As I said, these error messages will appear regardless if a game is crashing or not. I was gaming for 5 hours yesterday with zero problems, but the errors are still displayed.

The REDLauncher.exe displayed in the error is Cyberpunk 2077, but the program itself isn't an issue because the error is displayed the exact same no matter what game it is.

Again, I currently have no issue gaming or running programs, my issue is just that the error message is still somehow displayed + windows is slow to detect GPU on start. All temps on gpu and cpu and perfect in idle and under load and I can game for many hours with no issues, so I heavily doubt this is a hardware issue.

Things I have tried:

Reinstall windows
Reinstall drivers
Monitored temps (nothing wrong)
Commands Used:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow

I can also see that my latest BIOS version is outdated by 7months-ish, but my mobo is brand new and my pc worked without any issues before I started tinkering myself, so I don't know if updating BIOS would actually do anything. I'm also a bit scared to do it.

I have personally narrowed it down to a driver issue(I might be wrong of course), but I just have no idea to resolve it as I have retraced my steps back to when I first disabled the IGPU, but it's still not working.

My graphics card is also the default graphics card and boot option in BIOS.

My theory is that I think my pc is trying to boot with IGPU/another display driver regardless of settings, unable to find it, then 15 seconds later my GPU finally kicks in and takes over.

I could be completely wrong, but I think this might be the issue.

Also, when I reinstalled windows yesterday I didn't download AMD Adrenaline to prevent the IGPU drivers from being installed again, I just downloaded the chipset drivers manually. Regardless, the GPU is still slow to boot and now another Display Driver has been added called: Windows Basic Display Adapter.

I have never seen Windows Basic Display Adapter before, but I feel like it kind of confirms my theory since without the IGPU drivers and it being disabled, the GPU is still slow to boot and windows has added a new Display Driver when booting.

And I thiiiink that about covers everything.

I haven't found a single answer online, but I also haven't seen the issue be mentioned with IGPU/GPU drivers so I thought I'd give this website a shot and see if anyone have any ideas!

reset BIOS,
test with only one monitor
update the bios of the motherboard
be sure the PSU is connected correctly to the motherboard and all connectors are plugged into the PSU as well. 16pin plus 10pin (psu )to 24pin cable (motherboard)
Thank you for the response!
I have double checked that everything is plugged in and installed correctly in the PC! so it's not the cables.
If it ends up working with only one monitor, do you have any suggestions as to what I can do then?

I have a usb stick ready with the latest bios driver, but I wanted to just try everything else before I went down that route.

Update:
I tried unplugging all of my usb devices, trying out many combinations or without anything just to see if anything was wrong. Problem was still there.
I did the same with my monitors, tried only main monitor and the problem was still there. I tried the other monitors as well and nothing worked.

I just finished updating the bios to the newest version and the problem is still happening.

I have no idea what I can try anymore

You should not install Adrenalin if you have an Nvidia card. If you want a tool for your CPU use Ryzen Master. Adrenalin will install AMD radeon drivers in parallel with the Nvidia drivers and it's really not good. Use DDU to remove everything (nvidia and AMD) and install Nvidia drivers again (but not Adrenalin). And disable the integrated GPU if you are not using it.

Thanks for the reply!

I also thought that was the issue! And after my clean install of windows yesterday I didn't download AMD Adrenaline and instead only downloaded the chipset drivers + nvidia drivers. The integrated GPU is also disabled in bios, but the problem still persists. So I'm really confused as to what I can really do now. I still think this is a driver related issue, or maybe a corrupted file issue, but that is also hard to wrap my head around when I did a clean install yesterday. BIOS is also now on the newest version.

If it wasn't for the graphics card not being detected on boot for 15 seconds making me have to close and open MSI Afterburner on boot for it to detect it, i'd just ignore the event viewer errors since I'm able to play games with no issues anyway. But pc is just three weeks old so I would really like everything to work correctly.

I'm open to any ideas or fixes. I can also link a more detailed view of the event viewer errors if that can explain anything as I don't really understand what I'm looking at myself.

Hey!

You’ve done some solid troubleshooting so far, and I think you’re on the right track with the iGPU and display driver conflicts. The Windows Basic Display Adapter usually appears when Windows doesn’t fully recognize a GPU or when it defaults to a fallback driver.

Here are a few steps that might help:

Fully remove all display drivers

 • Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode to completely remove both AMD and NVIDIA drivers.
 • Restart, then install the latest chipset & GPU drivers manually.
BIOS & Boot Settings

 • Updating the BIOS might actually help since newer versions tend to fix hardware detection issues. If you’re hesitant, check if your version has any GPU-related fixes in the update logs.
 • Make sure CSM (Compatibility Support Module) is disabled in the BIOS and that UEFI mode is enabled.
 • Try setting the Primary Display Output manually to PCIe instead of Auto.
Check Power Settings

 • Go to Power & Sleep SettingsAdditional Power SettingsChange plan settingsPCI Express > Link State Power Management → Set to OFF.
 • Sometimes Windows power management interferes with GPU initialization.
Event Viewer Errors

 • If the GPU works fine once booted, the Event Viewer logs might just be a non-critical Windows bug. You can clear logs and see if they still reappear after everything is reinstalled.
Since you’re running a high-end setup, a better PSU or high-quality cables might also improve power delivery stability. If you ever need premium PC components or accessories, I’d recommend checking out this store, they have solid options for high-performance builds.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes. 🚀💻

Hello! Thanks for the very helpful response!

Yesterday I updated my bios to the newest version, but the problem was still there.

I did end up fixing the GPU detection problem on boot tho. So since Windows Basic Display Adapter was just constantly reinstalling itself and enabling itself on boot, I figured I needed to make my PC detect the IGPU again. I know I shouldn't download AMD Adrenaline with Nvidia Drivers, but I did just to get all the latest drivers from my IGPU so I could fix the weird detection problem. Then instead of disabling the IGPU in the bios like last time, I just disabled it in device manager and somehow (so far at least) this completely fixed my GPU-detection problem. It's now booting up all monitors simultaneously and fast with no problem.

If I didn't know about Event Viewer and how to read through logs (which I learned a few days ago) I would call this problem fixed with my limited computer knowledge because everything is technically working correctly now. But the error 1001 and 1000 are still appearing in event viewer when I launch any game. It's still a bit worrying because all information I can find on these errors tend to be about blue screening and crashing and I would crash on on start-up on any game before I reinstalled drivers and windows with these errors, so I would like to exhaust all alternatives and find a fix if it's possible!

The PSU is brand new and is the recommended PSU from Nvidia's 4080super website. They were both ordered at the same time 4weeks ago, so I'm very confident in this not being a hardware issue!

And now a new problem in event viewer appeared because of course it would:

So I guess it's nvidia driver related and that makes sense,

5minutes after I booted up the pc today this warning appeared and there's over 10 of them in a row, but then it stopped. The general tab on the warning just says: Ran out of memory. Is this ram related or something? I just tried booting up Cyberpunk and there's still no issues, but these errors are scaring me!
