I had a GTX 970 4gb and it randomly overheated and started smoking. So, because of this, I returned it and got the exact same one. I put it into my computer and now in games i was getting at least 60 fps in i am now getting 20-30. Anyone have any idea on why this is happening?

Note: I did not change a single thing in my computer other than the graphics card and putting it into a different slot.

Here are my specs in case anyone wonders:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
8.0 GB RAM
1tb Hard Drive
2tb Hard Drive
Windows 10 64-bit

my answer when in the wrong place...
Stop playing with that mobo you will make more damage.
and yes a new Psu wont hurt

is it because the other slot got burn from the old gpu

So youre saying that both slots are ruined? because i already put it into the other slot that it was not in before

Is the old slot on the mobo burned, smoking gpu means probably mobo damage.

The old slot doesnt even work anymore. So you think i should just get a new mobo then?
