GPU stoped working. Any fix? Sugestion for replacement?

I have a Sapphire dual-x R9 270x card. Never had any problems with it.
When I got on the computer this morning ( it stayed on all night) everything seemed fine but after 5-10 sec the card stopped working. The screen displayed small grey bars (not artifacts, just a wall of grey).
Now, when the computer turns on, the gpu fans are working but i get no signal.
I tried removing all the dust and re-seating it but it didn't work.
Everything works fine with an older gpu I put in.

Any tips on how to fix it?

I've also been looking for a replacement but I'm not up to date with gpus. A friend recommended the Gigabyte gtx 1060 6gb. How does that compare to the one I had?

Test on another computer, if it doesn't work, change the paste and clean the GPU board for dust. If nothing, it's probably dead.

Of the new cards, an RX 560 or GTX 1050 are replacements for what you've been using. A 1060 or RX 570 or 580 would be substantial upgrades. So your choice really depends on what you thought of the performance of your old card, good enough or too slow?
