Hi, as the thread title says.. I'm looking for a GPU that is stronger than the 1050ti, but it should only have length of 215mm or less. Oh, and I'm not being lazy.. was looking for a few days now, but so far the AMD cards I saw are too long for my mobo, and the 1660 super available in our local store is also too long. Thought it's about time I asked for help.. no RTX suggestions please - RTX cards are out of my budget range. I can afford only up to 400 USD.

here in my country.. got the MSI GTX 1050ti for 260 USD brand new at the mall. Their GTX 1660 (not super) brand new is 400 USD, and a GTX 1650 (not super) is 300 USD. The problem is the MSI 1660 and MSI 1650 are too long for my motherboard. It's the same for RX570, too long.

it's the SATA cable of the motherboard that has become the obstruction.

here in this pic, the tip of the 1050ti is pressing onto the red SATA. Putting an even slightly longer GPU, I would have to unplug the SATA cable..

looking for a shorter GPU, or maybe the same length, so I don't have to unplug any SATA.

Looks like there isn't really any room for a much longer card, even with the SATA cable out of the way...Maybe save up for a new MB and case, too?

But might as well save up for something entirely new, if it comes to that.

Is that an HP motherboard? A lot of proprietary motherboards like those are notorious for non user-friendly design choices like this.

Unfortunately, whatever country you're in, we're all in the same GPU boat due to crushing supply issues and high demand.

PCPartPicker does have a length option in the search options, so your best bet is to limit it to 215mm and see what you have available in your country. But you may not have a lot of options for a significant upgrade to a new GPU for $400. Cards that were going new for $130 in 2019 are selling for $300 used in 2021. You'll have to search your used options and that comes with considerable risks.

normal 90° cable wont help
bad mobo sata orientation, 45° cable would be needed
this cable could make it happen to fit longer gpu

it's a Dell Optiplex 7010 motherboard.

my problem is already solved by the Gigabyte 1650, but still thanks for telling me about pcpartpicker - might need to use that if I had a problem like this again.

not yet, don't have enough funds.. gonna take some more weeks to have enough enough money. But the thing is, it has always been my goal to have a 16 series in the house. Have almost given up, because thought none of them would fit my mobo.. but have been encouraged again on learning that the 1650 by Gigabyte would be fine - so I'm now hellbent on saving cash to get one. If I could get a 1650, would be moving the 1050ti to my backup pc.. that way, both pc's would be able to use Genshin Impact - this is a game I play with a friend, and I want to be able to continue playing it even if one pc bites the dust. :)

checked, RTX 2060 is approx 24,000 to 30,000 pesos here in my country. A GTX 1650 is 15000 pesos - should take about two more weeks for me to save up for the 1650... I only have 7000 pesos in hand now.

hmm, I could decide to wait longer and save to get an RTX.. the only problem is my lga 1155 board (on sig) is too weak to use an RTX card to it's full potential.. new mobo cannot be afforded, with most of money being used simply to keep paying for basic necessities.. like food, internet, and other bills. But I'll think about it.. the one positive thing about an RTX card is it's certainly more future proof... assuming I could take good care of the gpu. The positive thing about a 1650 is it won't bomb my wallet too hard, low power usage means it won't have problems with the PSU, and it's something that my board can use well.

In that case, such a purchase right now is only really reasonable if you have sufficient rainy-day reserve - Money is something you could need with little advance notice, and there's only so much either card would do to your gaming experience, about 1.5x for 1650, or 3x for 2060, assuming no bottleneck elsewhere in the system.

Hopefully price will drop soon enough...years old graphic card cannot keep selling well above MSRP for that much longer.
