Question GPU sudden overheating

So I’ve had my pc for a couple of years now and never had an overheating issue, it usually ran at 60-70 degrees during games. But a couple of days ago it suddenly shot to 95 degrees out of nowhere and hasn’t changed since, causing my games to run at like 30 frames. I’ve dusted the pc but nothing has changed, I don’t think it’s anything to do with the thermal paste either tho as it wouldn’t be so sudden. I’ve ran a full scan on malware bytes too and “quarantined” the threats but it’s still the same :/ any help?

Did you check the GPU fans?
A failing fan could cause sudden temps spikes.

My gpu fan wasn’t spinning when it was at 95 at 0% usage so that could be it yeah …

You might be able to find replacement fan .
What's the make and model of the GPU?

Gtx 960 - I’m saving for a new pc to bui hopefully by October so I don’t particularly want to spend a ton to fix it if it can be helped.

Update : my fan is now spinning and now my temp is back to normal ..? I think it’s just buggy so only spins when it can or something lol
