Hey all,

Been awhile since I've been in need of troubleshooting guidance, but this one has me stumped. Hoping there may be some fix other than writing the GPU off completely as dead.

Relevant pc specs:
Intel i5-4670k
MSI Z97 Gaming 5
MSI GTX 970
Antec TruePower 750? (I think thats the psu i had in it).

PC has been running fine. Finish gaming Saturday night. Sunday, the PC won't turn on. After a bunch of debugging, I have concluded that the 8pin on the GTX 970 is causing PSUs to trip. I have confirmed this with multiple power supplies and a friends computer. (Also just tried to plug in the 8 pin and use the paper clip trick, and the PSU immediately trips. 6 pin is fine).

I figure I may as well take the card apart and see what could've happened and maybe fix it. Any insight on what I can keep an eye out for that would be causing the trip?
I'm curious what could lead to a sudden short.

Thanks,
