Question GPU temp 75ºC Hotspot 106,5 fans at max RPM

Hi guys, so the last few months I been feeling somethings not the same with my EVGA RTX 2070 Black Gaming (https://www.evga.com/products/specs/gpu.aspx?pn=1207a8ec-269d-4e11-91a9-e01226652c9f).

For example, A few weeks ago I used to be able to run 2 complete loops of Heaven benchmark with the hotspot temp around 98~100º.

(Forgot to mention, it does the same thing on games too!!!)

But now after only 50~55 seconds GPU temp is 75ºC~77ºC and Hotspot temp is 106.5ºC and so the fans go max speed.

I tried with hwinfo and gpuz and the only termp sensors aviables are GPU and Hotspot.

The card have been runing the last 5 years without issues, never been repasted, and so never replaced the thermal pads either.

Anyone know where the hotspot may be?, Could this be Memory or VRMs?

Thank you to anyone who may have stumble with this same problem.

Time to repaste the GPU.

It is one of many sensors on the gpu die.

You think it may be time for new thermal pads too?, I mean if I take apart the GPU and the pads are not broken, and not dried out, should I worry about them?, Or better start with the chip alone first?
No. One thing at a time, and if they ain't broke, don't fix 'em.

Could be GPU could be pads breaking down a bit especially under high temps.

Thank you very much to all of you!!!

I have changed hundreds of CPUs thermal paste, but I only changed 1 GPUs paste, and that was long time ago.

I'm going to start with the thermal paste ( tomorrow). And try to post an update as soon as Im done testing the basic, like that the card is not worst than now lol.

i recommend mx6 paste idle my temps on a 4070 super idle 36c with no fans on max temp 77c with 86 hotspot.

its thick but recommend doing x method or 2 lines in the middle of the die or x method

thermal pads depends on thickness

ARCTIC TP-3: Premium Performance Thermal Pad work well.

but you may need thicker

SYY Thermal Pads work well also
