[SOLVED] GPU to close to powersupply

Hi everyone,

I have build a new pc with the following parts

  • Sharkoon V1000 micro atx
  • Gigabyte b450m s2h micro atx
  • Asrock rx 5600 XT challenger
  • Corsair 650w psu
  • Ryzen 5 1600af + stock cooler
  • 16gb ddr4
  • 480 gb ssd

After installing the gpu on the only pci slot available for the rx 5600 xt, i found out that it is installed on the bottom of the motherboard and that my gpu is almost touching my powersupply. I have litteraly about 1.5 inch of space between the gpu and the metal sleeve in the case that conceals the powersupply.
Between the gpu and the psu i also had to connect some cables (power, reset, usb 3.0,..) so there is almost no room for airflow in the gap between the gpu and the psu.
This results in a gpu temperature of about 95 degrees junction temperature in the amd control pannel.

I want to resolve this but i don't know where to start. Is this problem caused because the pci slot is placed on the bottom of the motherboard? I've checked other micro atx motherboards and some have the pci slot more between the bottom and the middle of the motherboard. If i would buy a motherboard like that i would gain a few inches of extra room, but will that be sufficient to fully solve the problem?
Or is the problem caused by the way this case is designed and can i simply resolve this with buying another case for my computer so my gpu will be placed more central in the case and not almost at the bottom of it? Wich cases do you guys recommend?
Or do i have to change my motherboard en case to an ATX midi tower case for a best sollution for this problem and an optimal airflow?

Any suggestion is welcome because i'm not sure how to fix this problem and if i am going to invest soms more money i want to make sure it is the right sollution.

Thank you guys for helping me out!

Thanks for taking a look at it. The specs of the gpu states it takes 3pci slots of space to install it so i think that's what causing the problem. I'll post a pics in 15 minutes when i'm done working.

Thanks mate. My thermal junction temp goed up to 95 degrees . Isnt that to high for this card? I tought this was because it didn't have enough space.

Thermal junction is the hottest point on the die and can exceed 100 degrees on the 5000 series cards. Use the GPU temp.

You can also add another intake/exhaust fan or both to your case to improve airflow

86 is on the high side, high 70s or very low 80s would be more normal.

I don't know what your fan setup is but you might wan to consider adding another case fan either as exhaust or intake depending on what you currently have.
I have two fans now, One in front and One on the back. I'll take a look at it thanks a lot for your help.
