I have two options:
1. Radeon 7950 3GB
2. GTX 760 2GB

I have heard that the Radeon 7950 can be overclocked to 7970's level. Any experiences with the the 760/7950? Are they loud? Can i overclock them with a 600W psu? thx

Hey

Overclocking a GPU is not worth (2fps + max), mby get one overclocked from the box with custom cooler? You won't have the noisse and heat problems then.

760 has a max 200W power consumption wich is pretty good on it's performance.
7950 250-260W

2GB of DDR5 video memory is plenty on a single monitor, if you have 1080p monitor, those 3 GB's of ram won't help you and you will never use them!

Go for 760 GTX, great performance, all maxed, lower power consumption, lower hear ( of the core ).
I recommend MSI 760, great cooling and overclocked from the box :) + smexy look!

Yes you should be able to achieve an overclock with a 600W. Both these cards are very similar in terms of performance and i wouldn't expect them to be particularly loud but that depends on the brand and it's cooler. If you're going to be playing at a lot more than 1080p get the 7950 for the extra gigabyte of ram. The card you pick depends on what game you plays or waht you do. If you're into stuff like video editing or want to record any games get the 760. If you play games like BF4 and want to benefit from mantle get the 7950

Here's me gaining almost 20% performance boost on my HD7950 in GPU core speed sensitive games like battlefield 3, etc... Hmpf...

OP get whichever is cheaper, but if you are a fanatically overclocker, then the AMD is better.
