gpu to replace 7990

Hi i currently have a 7990 gpu and have continuous problems since the day i got it from crossfire to micro stutter and a annoying sound from it so have decided to look for a replacement.

Considering Going for 2 gtx790 sli

Would that performance be par with the 7990

SLI 970's will be stronger then your 7990 by a good margin, this is a single 970 http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1355?vs=1074. You will still be faced with multigpu issues, but in games that don't run well with sli you can use a single 970 to get decent fps.
