GPU too big for case! What now?

Okay, so I have a Dell Otiplex 990 MT with a few upgrades. I just got a gtx 1080 ti, but the problem is that it doesn't fit in my case. It would be a shame to not use this beautiful graphics card. Is there a way to fix this issue without breaking my case? I would like to spend the least amount of money as possible. Thank you.

I would rather use the GPU instead of getting rid of it. If you don't think that it is possible than please do not answer.

Solution
From what I can see in pics, the issue isn't the case? But the hdd cages mounted on the bottom, in line with the gpu x16 slot. If that's the case move the cage up to underneath the optical bays. Costs nothing but time, some pop-rivets maybe or some screws.
The fact that you bought a 1080 ti to put in a prebuilt is SCARY as hell.

You should have checked before buying it if it fits. Measure the distance.

BUT the scariest thing of all... if you use the PSU that came with that prebuilt you will either fry everything inside, or the card won't work.

You rather not make any mods? Fine. The solution is very simple. Buy a new PC.

Your best solution is to return the card to get your money back. I highly recommend building another PC using the card's money and saving a bit more to buy another GPU afterwards.

I said that I have already made a few upgrades to the pre-built system this includes the PSU. I also said that I would prefer to spend the least amount of money as possible. That solution isn't very helpful. There's always another way such as, buying a bigger case. I am merely here to ask about solutions, not to be told that it is not possible.

You edited the first post many times providing other info that you did not have before.

Sure, you can buy a different case that will fit the card but unless you have upgraded almost the whole system, the 1080 ti will be heavily bottlenecked.

I made it more clear as, the original lead to misunderstandings.

The bottleneck isn't much of a concern to me. I plan on upgrading the entire system at some point. Which case would you recommend without breaking the bank?

Well it might be a good idea when asking for help to include all relevant system specs, including what exact hardware changes you have made.

Which of the thirty some odd gtx 1080 ti models do you have?

What PSU did you upgrade to?

What do you mean by breaking? Could you remove a HDD cage so that the card will fit?

For starters, one that has at least the GPU clearance of your 1080 ti.

You should go for a case that it has at least 3 fans (2 front 1 back)for proper airflow.
If you own or scheduling to own many HDDs/SSDs then it has to have the proper space for them as well.
The aesthetics is also another thing but the person's taste affect that decision.
Also you need to decide waht size of tower you need. I recommend Mid tower or bigger.
As for brands NZXT, Corsair, Thermaltake, Silverstone are my preference.

The hdd cage does appear to be the problem. But, where do I put the hard drive? It doesn't store any important data.

Move the whole cage. It's just a container to hold the 2 possible drives. I've even seen ppl pull it out entirely and bolt the hdd to the case floor. You are only limited here with what you are willing to do. My hdd and ssd sit inside the optical bay.

Thank you. I assume the hard drive would fail to function if it doesn't sit in the cage. Problem solved.

My optical bay is 5¼, pretty standard. My hdd is 3.5, ssd is 2.5 8mm, again, pretty standard. I wanted both gone from the bottom hdd cage as it interfered with how I was reinstalling the 280mm aio and pull fans. So, I massacred an old IDE CD drive, I wanted just the lid. It's the correct size for the bay and already has mounting holes. Painted it black. Drilled 4 holes in the bottom to line up with the 4x hdd mount holes. So, now the hdd sits perfectly inside the optical bay and my ssd is stuck into a factory mount on the backside of the mobo tray. Prolly would have been easier just to buy a 5¼-3.5 drive adapter, but I like to repurpose old stuff. My gpu support is the slide rule from an old circular saw that I heated up, bent straight, sanded, painted and added a little shrink-wrap to the tip. Bolts to the back of the case. Much more solid than the junk that came with the gpu.

A case is just a box for holding pc components. What you do with it is limited only to your imagination and ability. Want a full size window instead of the miniature version stock? No worries, just cut one out and add some acrylic. Riveted hdd cage? Nothing a drill won't cure, it's just a container, add one anywhere. Be surprised just how many ppl velcro the SSD to the top of the psu camouflage in some cases. Ultimate project? Full custom loop as part of a desk, no case needed.
