I just helped my friend to order parts for his christmas PC build, and I had a gut wrenching thought (After his mum had already paid for the stuff) that the GPU might be too tall for the case, it never occured to me whilst I was picking the parts.

The case is the corsair Spec-01 and the GPU is the MSI GTX 970 4G, please tell me I haven't fucked up here. Thanks

Solution
I seriously doubt it since GPU height is pretty much a non-issue in anything that isn't an mITX case, unless there's a side panel fan in the way. Corsair only lists a GPU length limitation of 414mm, but since it DOES list a CPU cooler height limitation of 150mm (5.9"), I'd say you're probably fine with the MSI's 5.5" height.

-Edit-

The maximum supported GPU Length for the case is 16.30" While the card is 10.59" tall so you needn't worry :)

You might want to try reading questions a bit more carefully, OP clearly stated his concern about the GPU height, not the length.

How about you invest more time in helping the OP , I guess he meant it's too long not too tall as the card can't be placed vertically , it has to be placed horizontally and yeah I meant long not tall but it's pretty much the same.

Didn't have the best of experiences with Gigabyte on the AMD side of things , I like EVGA and MSI's products .

EVGA is like the standard of nvidia however MSI's Twin Frozr are just very sexy.

Don't get defensive just because I pointed out your mistake. in case you weren't aware of it, the height of a card CAN MATTER because, since the card is installed horizontally, the height of a card can cause it to protrude outwards enough that it may not fit in some smaller cases with narrower bodies. Don't know why you had to guess anything since he used a specific word, HEIGHT not LENGTH.

I did infact mean height. I can understand why you'd make that assumption though, since its rarely a problem. I had already considered length, and the issue of height popped into my head AFTER we had purchased the components. Not a huge deal really, it's more because it's someone else's PC and I was taking responsibility for choosing parts.

Thanks for all the answers though, you have all put my mind at rest!

Try make friends more than enemies , it's not fun attacking somebody for their concern as I might find your posts and point out your typos or misunderstandings , it's not fun however I wouldn't do it as I am here to help the OP rather than focus on something else.

Have a good day , mate.

You can go ahead and try and troll my posts all you want, I'm not the one who takes things strangers say as personal insults :V
OP asked for one thing and you provided an irrelevant answer. You started off on the wrong foot by immediately assuming that OP didn't know what the hell he was talking about and by thinking he meant something else:
GPU might be too tallfor the case
How do you confuse height and length when he very clearly stated his question? I can only assume that you thought GPU height is measured by having the card stand on its PCI bracket l o l
