[SOLVED] GPU upgrade for 4670k?

Hello, i'm planning to upgrade my GPU (R9 380 4GB) to a GTX 1660 / 1660 Ti or to RX 580/590.. I recently did some research on bottlenecking and i'm not sure which GPU to get. Note that my budget is around 300 Euros and i'm using 8GB of DDR3 Ram with a 500W PSU.

I want to keep my CPU and overclock it if needed. I'm aiming to play recent and upcoming games at 1080p 60+ fps at High / Very High settings.

At 1080p, any GPU above an RX580 will likely make the CPU start to show its age.

What is the make and model of 500w PSU?

Keep in mind, in some games your CPU cannot get 60+ FPS.

Sure it depends on which game i play. So you don't recommend the GTXs? I was thinking the nvidia side this time. My PSU is an old Tagan BZ- series 500 watt 80+.

Yeah that’s my point. A 4670k can’t keep above 60fps in some newer games. I have a system with one oc’d to 4.3Ghz with 16Gb and it really struggles, it gets completely maxed out. Regardless of gpu choice several games won’t achieve 60fps.

Really the thread count of that CPU is the issue. A similar I7 with 8 threads will perform much better than you I5, even if they are both at the same clock speed.

The 1660ti/1660 performs better than the 570 or 580, which will cause a bad CPU bottleneck.

Tacens PSUs are all bad. Definitely replace that, otherwise, it might fail and take your new GPU out.
