Hi all, my son has the following rig:
-i3 7100
-8GB RAM
-GTX 1050 Ti 4GB

He plays Fortnite, and would love a dual screen setup and more FPS... spoilt brat :pt1cable:

Is the GTX 1060 6GB a worthwhile upgrade from the 1050Ti, given he’ll be running it on an i3?

Solution
Assuming he uses a 1080p monitor, run Fortnite at 1080p lowest settings and note the framerate. Now run it again the same way but at 720p and note the framerate.

If it went up, he can use a better card. The more it went up, the more fps he will get from a better card.

If it didn't go up much, then his CPU is already starting to limit him. Considering the fact that he has a 1050 Ti right now, you can consider lowest settings 720p performance to be a best case scenario of how much fps that i3 can crank out.

In CPU intensive games it will bottleneck for sure.

Fortnite however, is a GPU intensive game, so you should be noticing an increase in FPS.

However, if I had the choice, I'd go with an i5 and the 3GB version of the 1060 instead.
