Hi all - please excuse any ignorance in this query; I am not particularly up to speed when it comes to technology (hence my query!)! My GTX 1060 3GB is on its last legs and I am looking for a replacement. I use my PC primarily for gaming, mostly games like RDR2, RPG and FPS games. I have been trying to decide whether to upgrade to a 1660 Super (my budget might just stretch to a new one) or get an older but "higher spec" card used. My options at the moment seem to be a new 1660 Super for about £335 (if I'm lucky!) or used I could get a 1070 (Zotac Amp Extreme) for £250 or a 1080 for £320ish. If I have understood what I have read online correctly, the performance on the older cards might be better than a 1660 Super currently (only just in the case of the 1070), but the Super is newer and so more likely to be supported for longer/ newer games are more likely to be geared towards the Super. Are there any other factors I should be thinking about and what are people's recommendations (eg are there other cards I should be looking at?)? My PC spec is:

Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.5GHz
16384MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
650W PSU

Many thanks!

A friend just scored a 1070 for $250, the trick is finding such a deal....

Sad that it's a "deal" now, when I bought my 1070 I got it for under $200, my son got a 980 Ti a while ago for under 200 also which is about identical speeds.

If running at 1080, the 1070 card is fine for that at high settings in pretty much any game, even at higher refresh rates. If the 1080 is still in the price range that would enable a bit longer use of the card and allow to hit 1440 resolution at good speeds and refresh rates.

I am running my 1070 at 1440 but it has issues with going over 100fps in many newer games, so if using a higher hz refresh monitor it may not be ideal (again if cost is not much of an issue).
