Hey everyone. It seems it's finally time to upgrade my rig. What's the most cost effective upgrade (GPU)?

Current Setup
GPU - EVGA GTX 760 (2GB) SLI (I got a good deal on the second one - no hate)
CPU - Intel i5 3570k OC @ 4.4GHz
MOBO - Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H MOBO
RAM - 16GB Corsair 1600Mhz CL9
PSU - Corsair HX850
29 inch 21:9 LG Ultrawide Monitor 75Hz @ 2560x1080 (Primary)
24 Inch Acer 1920x1080 Monitor 60Hz (Secondary)

I know I don't need a GTX 1080 - I only push 2 monitors at 1080 (Gaming on the 29 inch and web browsing on the 24 inch). I do play most recent releases, and want to be able to max the games out. My 760's have started lacking - and sadly aren't good OCers.

I plan on selling the 760s for around $200-$250 for the pair, and don't want to spend any more than $300 additional.

I am traditionally an Nvidia guy, but i'll consider AMD if the price/performance is right.

What do you guys think?

Solution
1070 will do you right mate. Check out the 1070 3rd party cards (MSI and EVGA especially).

If that's a little too expensive for you, consider looking into the 1060, which is somewhere between the 970 and 980 in performance for around $300.

If you would rather be able to SLI in the future, go 1070 again, or look into getting a 970 or 980 on the cheap from somebody used.

I had the 1070 in mind, but tend to make rash "Oh it's new and perfect!" arguments with myself. I think this is the way I'll go. Thanks!
