Gpu upgrade suggestions

Looking to size up from my sapphire Radeon HD7870 2gb GHZ edition.
Don't want anything daft but want decent performance and low fan noise.

Was looking at the gtx 960 but it's just a shade out of my justifiable price range of £100.00

Any suggestions?

The gtx 960 is just a slight edge better than the 7870. Even if you could afford the gtx 960, it would be a poor waste of money, since the gain would be minimal. Either save up for a gtx 970/r9 390 or wait for pascal is my opinion.

Well, The GTX970 should be around 20-30% better than Xfire HD7870's. Can your PSU handle both cards?

Well the performance increase with a gtx 960 would be 10-15% at best. With the GTX 970 it should be around 40% but that depends on your other components as well.

No sorry I think we've got crossed wires. I'm talking about the increase of crossfiring an identical card.

To crossfire your gpu you will needd to have a psu which can handle it and also it's pretty weak, will be pointless.

If you're looking for a decent performance upgrade, £100.00 might not get you very far. A GTX 960 is only slightly faster than a 7870, meaning you're better off getting a GTX 970 or even a R9 290/390.

Your best bet is save up a little more for a 970, and here in the us its only about 100$ difference for alot better performance.

Please read up before you post guys, 960 isn't worth the upgrade and the 970 is out of my price range. So I'm asking how much more balls I'd get out of crossfire.

You'd effectively get 1.5x the performance, though keep in mind that not all games play well with crossfire/sli.

Hmmm screw that then, thanks Rukeith. What about older cards that are a decent chunk better than mine? Not really that bothered about having the latest. And they probably fall somewhere within my price range.

For example the GTX 770?

Look how high the 7870 is, the GTX 770 is better than the GTX 960, but still it won't come cheap and the performance upgrade yet again won't be worth the cash.

Found a 770 for a ton, gone for that till the 970/80 comes down.
