Hey guys, I want to upgrade my GTX 750 Ti (2GB) for something better (preferably NVIDIA) but I'm not sure what to go for because of all the bottlenecking that may happen if I get a good card and maybe the lack of power from my PSU (420W). I was thinking about GTX 1050 Ti (4GB) which is about 160 euro but again, I'm not sure. Also I'm using double monitors if that matters.
PC specs:
CPU: i5-4460 @ 3.2 GHz
Mobo: Gigabyte H81M-H
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport (2x 4GB) @ 1600MHz

Thanks in advance

1050 ti is better, but not better enough to warrant the price unless you can get a decent amount from selling your 750 ti. I would much rather, in your case, get a better power supply and RX 570 or 580. A good PSU can last a lot longer than a GPU and you'll have more room for future upgrades.

I understand, but let's say I decided to buy 1050 Ti and sell my 750 Ti (in that case I would spend about 100-115 euro), would my PSU be able to cope with it or is it necessary to upgrade it? I'm still not sure if I will buy anything at all as I'm going to college in few months time but it's always good to know in case I wanted to change my plans.

I'd imagine that your 420W unit is not very high quality, brand and model would be nice. That PSU would be fine for a 1050 ti, but I'd start to worry about overdrawing on the 12V rail starting with a 1060. The PSU is the heart of your PC, it's the one component that you shouldn't cheap out on in my opinion, but if you stick with the x50 ti cards it should be ok.

I just rechecked on my PSU and it actually is 400W and not 420W, my bad. And the model is Antec VP400PC

If it were my choice I'd get the 1060, even the 3gb if that's the one in your budget. You have a pretty good i5, you could use the extra performance. I think that Antec can handle it. The 1050 Ti is not bad, and it is a good upgrade from a 750 Ti, so you can't go wrong either way.

If you could find a GTX 970 locally at a good price, that might be an even better option. You could have a more powerful card, buy a new PSU, and have 500mb of extra VRAM all for less than the 1060 3gb.

your psu should be fine with a 1060, so if you could swing the extra cash i would go for that card. but only if you can get a 6gb variant.
