GPU Usage/load question

-i5 4460 3.20GHz
-MSI GTX 970 4GB
-Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz 2x4GB Dual Channel 8GB kit
-1920x1080 LG monitor
-500w Corsair CX Bronze
-1TB WCD Hard drive
-ASRock Z97 Anniversary Motherboard
-Windows 7 Ultimate

I was just wondering why is it when i play games which are set to ultra at 1080p 60fps why the gpu load never get close to 100%. i have only ever seen it got to 75% once in fallout 4

What is your CPU usage when the GPU load is not at 100%? Do you have Vsync on?
Certain games and settings will not tax your hardware fully.

Well if you're already getting 60fps there is no reason for the GPU to work even harder.
Or are you getting laggs and the usage is still around 75%? If yes, then display your CPU usage and make sure that it stays below 100%.

I think Fallout 4 is limited to 60fps too. Your GPU might not have to work that hard to produce it.

Okay so basically i went into killing floor turned vysnc off and put variable framerate on then put on ultra preset then played the game and yes i get 114fps about and the gpu now goes to 50%-90%. it was the vysnc now i understand

Sounds about right.
If you limit the max framerate your card will target that framerate. If it can reach and surpass (in this case 60FPS) then it keeps it at that level. It stops attempting to work harder to push as many frames as possible.
