So in several "newer" titles like COD Cold War and Cyberpunk 2077 my GPU utilization is around 80%. I have no issues with thermals, the GPU is on water and hovers around 60c under load when benchmarking in heaven and 3d mark etc. Doom eternal pegs GPU useage at 99%.... whats strange about the use being at only 80% is that the GPU memory clock stays a steady 2010mhz weather its under a 80% or 100% load. The core clock stays at 1995mhz under load constant as well then drops to 1515 when not important.

What is the deal here? I could get more performance in COD etc if the card ran at 100% right? Im maxed on everything getting around 80-90fps @ 1440p so its not bad as is, just more curious and confused.

I have a ryzen 3600x on a asus x570e board, 32gb of 3200mhz RAM, games run off a m.2 1tb drive, OS runs off a 500GB ssd on a non overclocked CPU (honestly it boosts up to 4.3 ghz 99% of the time anyway) and a slight and stable OC on the GPU. All cooled on a 360 AiO on the CPU and a hybrid 240 on the rtx 2080

Just playing rf2 in vr for a few hours and the performance is not really hindering my "experience" but looking back at MSI afterburner and HWinfo from the hour or so I was playing, the GPU max use was 81%, the max CPU use was 66%... temps on the GPU 56c, on the CPU 67c.

The GPU core clock stayed flat at 2010 the whole time which is what it gets to in 3dmark when benchmarking in time spy etc.??

went into a game called Midevil Dynasty (rpg) and usage on gpu was 98% average and cpu average was 26%*

I hate to say it but that game is not optimized vary well, every video I've seen running a 3600x and a strong GPU, it rarely sits at 99% all the time, it will peak there but not stay there consistent. Now it could be a that the 3600x is bottlenecking the 2080 somewhat in that game doesn't mean its bad CPU, but more or less that game just not being optimized vary well. I've just watched a video with a 3700x and a 3080 and the GPU doesn't sit at 99%, it does seem to fluctuate between 70 to 90% most of t he time with it jumping to 99% at times.

I'd blame the game and not your system, the GPU usage is also all over the place for me on my system in my sig for the most part.

I agree with @Viking2121 and I should also add that monitoring CPU utilisation is worthless when you only look CPU as total and not each core individually. If just one core is 90%+ then your CPU is holding you down. For a 6 core processor, if you have 1 core at near 100% and the rest 0% (or close to that) the total utilisation will show ~16.5%, which as you can understand seems like your CPU is doing nothing, yet it IS holding you back.

ill monitor each core good point... amd ryzen master is it pretty reliable?

EDIT in playing for half an hour it seems they are all about even and boosting to 4.35ghz???
