I've got a 2070S with an 8 and 6 pin power plug.

Gigabyte didn't send a 8+6 pin vga cord in this new PSU.

Is it safe to plug an 8 pin and an 8 pin in the 6 pin slot?

Its a GP-P850GM

ATX/MB 20+4 Pin x 1 : 610mm*1
CPU/EPS 4+4 Pin x 2 : 600mm*2
PCI-e 6+2 Pin x 4 : 600mm+150mm*2
SATA x 8 : 600mm+150mm+150mm+150mm*2 :
4 Pin Peripheral x 3 + 4-Pin floppy x 1 :
500mm+120mm+120mm+150mm *1

You have 4 PCIe 6+2 pin cables with that PSU.

Each PCIe cable has 2 6+2 pin connector. Each 6+2 connector can be put together to create a 8 pin or you use it as a 6 pin.

The only thing you have to do is take 2 PCIe cable and plug a 6+2 from one in your GPU 8 pin and 1 cable you take the 6 pin of the 6+2 and you plug it in your GPU 6 pin.

Done.

No, you can't/shouldn't. Look here - https://www.gigabyte.com/Power-Supply/P850GM
Scroll down a bit to see pictures of all the connectors. The third one (PCI-E) is the one you want to use. See how there's an extra 2 pins that are detachable?

I guess it's possible that the 2 pin cables have been fully pulled off of the 6-pin connector, making them appear like completely separate cables. do you have a couple/few 2-pin cables just hanging around?

Nope, every 8 pin connector runs to 8 pin connectors
Solid blocks, no 6+2
