Hi guys,
I have reached an ultimatum on my new pc build, I have a budget of $1300AUD. I have come up with two possible configurations.
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 OC 2GB + 120gb SSD

or

XFX Radeon R9 280X Black Edition 3GB without an SSD

Please advise?

I would personally get the GTX 760 + SSD. The SSD doesnt improve game performance (except loading times), but will be so much faster to use in everyday tasks and boot up. PLus the 760 is still a great card, although not quite as fast as the 280x.

What resolution are you gaming at? The 760 is a pretty good card, also remember the 280x is simply a rebranded 7970 and would be better if you require the vram. Another thing to consider is that an SSD wont improve your FPS performance at all, only load times of applications and games stored on it.

I would personally go the 760 +ssd because I'm extremely inpatient so the SSD is a must in my system. Though if you like AA and bling in games, I think the 280x will serve you better, I currently run a 780 on 1440p and having no AA as well as medium-high settings suits me just fine.

Get the best GPU that you can afford in you're budget. Only get the SSD when you have more extra money to spend. Since an upgrade on your GPU will eventually costs way more than getting a new SSD.
