I want to be able to play games like Skyrim (Heavily modded), Fallout 4 (when it comes out), GTA V, The Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition, Civilization 5, Galactic Civilization 3 (HUGE GAME!!!) and other games like another Elder Scrolls that may come out in the next 2 - 3 years. So not just short term solution but also a long term solution.

EDIT: I want to be able to play at 1080p at Ultra settings with around 60fps on one screen. I don't have any intention of going 4k

Which would you suggest? Nvidia GTX 970 or 980 or AMD Radeon R9 290x?

My gaming specs are below and I am upgrading other parts of it as well in time.

Case: ARC CS-501 Gaming Case – Black
Memory: Crucial 32GB kit (8GBx4) DDR3 PC3-12800 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1.35V 1024Meg x 64
SSD: Crucial MX100 512GB SATA 6Gb/s 2.5" Internal SSD
HDD: WD 2TB 32M Cache, 7200 RPM, 6.0Gb/s
Power Supply: 800 Watt
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 -- AMD 970
Processor: AMD FX-8150 CPU (8x 3.60GHz/8MB L2 Cache)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7770 - 1GB - CrossFire Mode (Dual Cards)

Solution
If you just want to run those games and not care about the graphics settings, go for the GTX 970 (It will run all those games at 1080p on either high or ultra settings with 60 FPS). If you want to play all games at 1080p on ultra settings with at least 60 FPS, go for the GTX 980. The R9 290 is just like the GTX 960.
