[SOLVED] Gpu without any cooling,

My friend claims his dad can play destiny 2 on some GPU he doesn't know and it doesn't have any cooling. He can see the board no fans no heat sinks no nothing. I think he is lying there is no way he can play destiny 2 on a card without any cooling. What do you think?

Passively cooler cards exsist, but they are always very low end non gaming oriented graphics card such as teh GT 710 or GT1030 (some have fans).

There is no way any higher end card is passively cooled. It could be a blower style card that doesnt have fans visible or even a water block is attached and the card is part of a custom loop or AIO. But there must be some cooling method attached if its an gaming card.

As its commonly said, Pics or it didnt happen.
See if you can get a picture of said card (and post it here).
Chances are they are either looking at the wrong component (IE a soundcard) or it just does not look obvious.

Then no, there must be some form of cooling. Does he even know what he is looking at, is he mistaken something like a soundcard for his gpu.

Just a thought, fake gpu’s are a thing. Could he have bought a gpu believing it’s a GTX1080 and it’s not?

It should have a heatsink though, any card with just bare silicon would die a painful death on any amount of load.

Hes full of it or doesn't understand what hes seeing. Ask for a pciture and post it and we'll tell you what's going on.

Its probably watercooled, no fan no heatsink. Otherwise he's looking at something not a GPU or your friend is lying to you. Kids lie a lot haha
