So this unfortunately happened. I got the MSI Geforce 980 ti Gaming 6 G today and went to install it into the PCIe3.0 x16 slot(after removing the 2 plates in the back of the case for the outputs) only to discover the bottom fins of the CPU cooler are in the way. The full build can be found here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/N3gQpg but the fan itself is a Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler. I pretty much have to use that specific slot if I want the most out of the card correct? Also(and probably a stupid question) in terms of the PSU, I would use two separate 8 pin cords going from the card to the VGA1 and VGA2 on the PSU?

Is my only recourse to buy a new CPU cooler?

You can use the second pci-express slot mate ,its still 16x & won't impact performance.

Cable wise , makes no odds if you use a single string of 8 pins or both - your PSU is single rail anyway so makes no difference.

Really? The MSI manual gave me the impression the second slot was x8...though this is my first personally built gaming PC :/ I'll try it when I get home, can't wait!

Ahh, I see. I popped it into the second slot and it's up and running. The only hiccup I experienced was after the exited The Division and tried to open a browser window. Everything froze(could only move the mouse) and the comp would beep when I tried to click on something. Not sure if that's card related but I'll do some searches. Thanks for the help :)
