GPU won't overclock

I bought a Sapphire R9 290 Tri X OC last week and thought I could try to slightly overclock it.
After changing the GPU clock from 1000 to 1010 via MSI Afterburner I ran Heaven. The stock score was 66 average FPS and the new average was still 66.
I ran the test several times on stock and 1010 but the result stayed the same and yes Heaven did show the clock of 1010 at the top right.

Why won't it score any higher? Could the CPU be a bottleneck even though it is a i5 4670K at stock? I also tried again with the power limit at 120% but no change.

Any help is appreciated.

We are talking about a 1% increase here. If your system was able to run it @ 66 fps earlier, it should now be theoretically able to run it @ 66.66 fps. You're going to need a bigger OC to notice a difference.

1000MHz / 66 fps = 15.15MHz/fps. Theoretically 1115MHz should result in 67 fps. But your card is already overclocked. I doubt you will get it to an additional overclock that resukts in a noticeable higher fps.
