GPU won't work at all but has power

I just built my second computer. And my computer won't detect my gpu but it has power. Its a GALAX gtx 980 HOF edition.

I take it that by having power you mean the fans are spinning. Do you have another system you can test your GPU on? I would also make sure all of the power supply cables are solidly attached both to the PSU itself and the GPU.

yea i have another system i took my 780 and hooked it up. It worked but then later the day i turned my computer on and it didn't detect it. I then restarted it then it detected it so i don't know if it's my mobo or what
