Grab one of these 4TB SSDs for 5 cents per gigabyte – 8TB models start as low as 7 cents per GB

The least expensive 8TB drive on the list is still $74.88 per 1TB. That is just sad. It’s 2025 and the size of everything is increasing. It takes more a more storage to install or keep anything.

A major cost for these drives is the controller, the board and assembly, and maybe RAM (not all have RAM cache). There is no reason for any brand to sell these larger capacity drives for about the same or more per 1TB as an entire 1TB drive. Well, no reason other than greed that is.

That said, the 4TB drives at $180-$220 aren’t that bad I guess. Still though, for some reason they still sell these like they’re new, novel tech or something.

I had 3 silicon power drives in a row that failed in a few days. I thought 2 was a bad set of luck so tried again a year later on the 3rd. Do not bother with them

I noticed the high end 4TB models are twice as fast as the 8TB models. Wouldn’t it make more sense to get the lower capacity faster drives?

My brother and I are running Silicon power GEN3 2TB about 4 Years now. No problems. Guess we might just be lucky.
