Buying a i3 12100f is more sensible. Costs the same, performs better and has better upgrade path. AMD's am4 platform is now outdated shouldn't be bought new.

Can’t say I totally agree about not buying am4 new if you are on a budget if you stick to the cheaper boards like an 80 dollar b550. But much more than that…unless you catch a too good to be true deal on a 5800x 3d maybe.

I think on an extreme budget am4 makes sense but I think skip the i3 altogether and move straight for an i5 13400 or better.
