Bought a used computer, in shipping it was banged up. Hard drive and ssd knocked loose and graphics card fans knocked off. Comp works fine integrated graphics. When card plugged in computer freezes during Win 10 start up. Freezes on little windows picture, screen covered with broken white lines. Tried to download drivers, but card not recognized. Is card bad or is it because no drivers installed?

have u try your card on a different system or using a different card?also since u said it was pretty banged up something must have damage the pcie slot it self.but before coming to a conclusion its best to test a different card or ur card on another system.

Upon further examination, if I hold the card pushed towards the motherboard (sideways from fans side to motherboard side) everything works fine. I can download drivers and everything works... until I let go. I assume the motherboard must be bad?? I'll admit I stuck a cd case top in between it and the power supply. Works. does this mean motherboard is broken and should be replaced, or could it be the card? I have no other computers to try it in.
