Hi,

So I got a new monitor (Asus ROG Strix XG32VQ) and the text (particularly small text) is unreadible. Native resolution is set to 1440p and scaling is correct. Nvida Drivers just updated. Pictures linked below showing the choppy edges.

Any ideas?

I just upgraded to this monitor from another 1440p 32" one and didn't have this issue.

Strangely its fine within ClearType but outside of that its all pixelated and grainy...

No smooth edges on text.

Thanks in advance!

Do you have any "Game mode" in the monitor settings enabled? this will cause text issues on my monitor, which has similar specs to yours. Any sharpness settings or anything you can adjust? also try resetting the monitor to factory defaults.

Thanks for the response. I set it all back to defaults and its in the standard mode. No sharpness option in the monitor settings unfortunately.

I was reading that this could be to do with the pixel structure of a VA monitor but that can't be right as I can't imagine Asus would release a monitor where the text is all blurry?

I currently have ClearType enabled and Windows is set to soften the edges of text.

I thought it was the monitor as my previous IPS didn't do this. However, you can see that the ClearType dialogue box displays fine but normal stuff is out of focus and blurry. Very odd...!

Thanks but I tried everything and nothing worked. Turns out that the ASUS VA monitors just display like that. You can see it on 1080p VA monitors as well but it’s more obvious in 1440p. Decided to spend the extra money and go for IPS. Acer X34P now. That ASUS one was horrible. Shame after I used to have their PG279Q. Clearly just didn’t invest the effort into that one!
