This problem has been so frustrating now. I have a 27" 144Hz monitor (AOC 27G2) and an RX 6750 XT. When setting the refresh rate to literally anything above 60Hz, the text and images on screen get grainy.

What I have tried:
- 4 different cables:
- 2 DP 1.2 and 2 HDMI 1.4, and they all produce this same grainy effect.
- Switched between GPU ports
- Reinstalled AMD drivers
- Installed the dedicated AOC Monitor Driver
- "Power-cycled" the monitor (essentially just pulled the plug, waited 10 minutes, then plugged it back. Didn't count much on this, but I guess it was worth a shot lol)
- Turned on / off FreeSync
- Set the monitor to use DP 1.1 / 1.2
- Turned on ClearText
- Set the scaling to 100%
- Turned on "Let Windows try to fix apps so they're not blurry"
Other observations:
- When restarting the PC, the "Restarting" screen does not have this effect at all, which leads me to believe that this is a software problem?
- There are times where the screen sort of brightens and the grainy effect goes away completely, then it goes back to original brightness and the grainy effect is back
- The effect seems to be the most mild when setting it to 144hz, and the worst when setting it to 75Hz.
