Grand Theft Auto V low fps

Hey this is my first post.
I have i5 3470
gtx 660 2gb 353.06 drivers.
ram 8 gigs
and i have fps drops on GTA V.It goes like 60 fps and drops to 40
Maxed out high normal vsync off.

It's pretty normal. You cannot have a stable fps with any game. There are drops and peaks everywhere.
GTA V is a demanding game, so you can't expect the best performance with mid level rig.

Btw should i update my gpu drivers is there any crashes with new drivers?

No , those drivers are fine.
I heard about crashes with the newer drivers for GTX 660.
I had like 2 threads , where they cannot update the driver because it was crashing.
Known problems for gtx 660 , so stick with the drivers you have currently.
