Grapgics Card turned off

My Grapgics card turned off in my computer..So i plugged in a cable labeled Usb into my motherboard, and as soon as i did so my gpu turned off. idk if it was coincidence or not. My gpu is a windforce gigabyte, my power supply is a 500 watt ,and my motherboard is a ASRock H97M Pro4. Someone please help!!!

Did you do this while the computer was turned on and the power supply was connected?

That's generally not a good thing... it's possible you damaged your GPU or MOBO. I'm not exactly sure how it works but plugging anything in on the MOBO or PSU cables while the computer is on and connected to a power supply can damage the PC.

ohhh.. but everything else works with the MOBO and PSU, but where do you suggest I go from here?

Well if possible I would try plugging your 970 into a system that you know works with its current graphics card. This will allow you to determine if there is an issue with your computer or if it's the graphics card.

ohh ok thank you so much, and i forgot to mention that the fans on the graphics card fans were really loud for the short time it was working idk if that would suggest a different problem, but thank you for your help.
