Hi

I am trying to fix a computer and I am having a problem with the new graphic card

The old card has broken and I get "no video input" when its installed. I have brought an upgraded card but I also get "no video input".
The monitor and the cables work on other computers the second card is new and I have checked the powersupply.

Is there anyway to uninstall the old cards software without a display?
or would the problem be something else?

Thanks
A newbie in need

Solution
Only by trying it on another compatible PC. But if the integrated video doesn't even work (w/the discrete card removed of course), that leads me to wonder about the board or the PSU. I don't suppose you have access to another PSU?

I suppose it could be the CPU itself, but that is usually the last thing to go bad. Motherboards have the most components, so they have the highest chance of something failing.
The software won't enter the picture until Win is loaded. The drivers are strictly for Win. If you don't get a display at bootup, the problem is likey hardware related. The board's PCIe x16 slot may have gone bad. Or the chipset that controls it. I take it that the board doesn't have integrated video?

The board does have integrated video but plugin the monitors into that doesn't give me any change in results.

do you know of anyway to check the slot or the chip without buying a new chip?

The power supply was the first thing i though of and i brought a new one to check it but no change.

I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and get a new board and just scavenge what I can.

Try:
With the power cord removed, reset the BIOS, check the motherboard manual, there's usually a small jumper that can be moved which will clear the CMOS memory, resetting the BIOS to its out of the box settings.
Disconnect all the other devices, HDD, DVD/CD/Blu-ray drives, dedicated graphics card and all USB devices and remove all but one memory module, it won't boot with no HDD obviously. 😉
