I'm a bit of a newbie so i'm sorry if this is a stupid question I am planning on buying a Radeon R9 270X GPU to go with my gaming orientated PC but i am wondering what is the difference between them all and what is the best. I've seen things like Sapphire 270X's and Twin Frozr 270X's but what is the difference and what is the best?

All of the cards' performance are much alike since they all have the same chipset, though some cards come with overclocked frequencies and might perform better than their standard (non-overclocked) counterparts. Manufacturers also distinguish their products by different cooling solutions, noise, software, looks, etc. You should look up some reviews on the cards so you can decide what is best for you.

You can't go much wrong with any of the cards from the major players in the card market, ASUS, MSI or Gigabyte, they all perform the same given a specific clock. The factory OCed cards will perform better with a bit of a price premium if you don't want to bother OCing them yourself.
