Question Graphic card drivers

I replaced my old m.2 with a 1tb one, fresh install of windows and whenever I try to download any drivers for my 1080 my pc just stays as a black screen, tried installing older ones after running safe mode but none seem to work.

Where are you downloading these drivers from? Are you connected to the internet before/during?
Windows update will attempt to install a driver (usually ~6 months old, from memory) - so you might be running into a conflict.

The GPU exhibited no issues before the fresh Windows install, I assume?

I’m downloading them off nvidias advanced search, I’m now stuck on black screen even with the old m.2 in. And connected to internet the whole time with Ethernet.

Do you see the BIOS and lose video and Windows? Or nothing?

I see bios and then just an illuminated monitor. Gpu was working fine before.
