^Thats an horrible GPU, overpriced, OLD, and inefficient.
Rather get this, though its stretching your budget a little: http://cgi.ebay.in/XFX-ATI-Radeon-HD5670-512MB-DDR5-HD-5670-3YR-BILL-/310247417469?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item483c2fe67d:

i dont think the futuremark comparison chart is really trustworthy. i mean the 8800 gtx is above the 9800gtx. the 9800gtx is above the 9800gtx+. i thought the gts250 was a rebranding of the 9800gtx but the 9800gtx ranks higher. since we are on toms hardware, shouldnt we be looking at this? the 8800gtx is 1 tier higher then the 5670 according to it.

Which wasn't not far ahead of the GTS in terms of performance. IIRC.

ORD isnt very accurate though, heres real numbers if you want:

Regardless, why would any one want a 3 year old GPU, that runs hot, guzzles power and takes up too much space.

when the 9 series was released by nvidia i had owned a MSI 9800GTX AND MSI 8800GTX ALL BEFORE THE MSI GTX 260 LIGHNTNING EDITION 1792MB I Have now.I felt that the 8800gtx was slightly faster than the 9800gtx.now the gts 250 gets approximately 10 fps less in all games than the gtx 260 and 17 fps compared to my gtx 260 SO THAT WOULD MAKE IT WEAKER THAN THE 8800gtx.As for Toms charts the futuremark one containsl all the 3dmark vantage scores so it can't be incorrect.in any case for the OP the 8800gtx is a sweet deal coz it still has the potetial to max every game out there at rez near to 1360x768(except metro 2033)

Really? Nice logic there. The GTS250 is a rebadged 9800GTX+ which is a chunk better than the 8800/9800GTX.

fermi is a monster when it comes to guzzling power yet ppl buy it coz of more fps.similarly although the 8800gtx may run hot still it would give better fps than a 5670 plus he could get physx

Oh right, why not get 2 X1900XTXs in Crossfire? Its cheaper actually.
Dont pull up Fermi now, it is in the same generation and only consumes alot more power relative to HD5000.

FYI, the 8800GTX consumes 200W more than the 5670. or 400% more.

but it gives better fps which matters the most.the 5670 is no match for the 8800gtx when it comes to benchmarks and fps in games, period.if u see the chart linked above you will see what i mean

So 10% less powerful, or 3-4 fps makes a world of difference?

Is it enough to justify the extra money spend on electricity, heat and the lack of warranty?

http://www.guruht.com/2010/04/ati-vs-nvidia-89-video-card-benchmark.html

see the ati 5670 and 8800gtx in the chart.the difference is around 30fps at low settings.

if you want to suggest a gpu close to the 8800gtx its 5750 not 5670 but in india its out of his budget.it will consume less electricity than the 8800gtx but provide the same fps approximately

If you have a 260 no, at least go up to a GTX285/470. Its why you dont see people going from 5850s to 5870s.
Besides, with the 275, you get about a proportional increase of power with performance, while with the 8800GTX its not.

Just the added electricity alone would cost him an extra 1000 rs per year (24 hours of usage per week @4rs per Kwh).
