Graphic card with HDR?

Hello, i have built my self a system for watching movies. I am using a custom built computer where i have all my 500 movies. The specs are the following. intel core i5 4440, 8GB ram, msi gtx 950, cooler master 500w, 11TB or storage, but i am wondering if my graphic cards supports HDR? or is it even possible for me to get HDR through the computer? I have everything connected to the TV, because it supports HDMI 2.0 with 60hz, instead of the home theatre which only supports 4k with 30hz. As far as i now samsung updated the TV with HDR, so i am currently wondering if i even can get it with the current graphic card? If not which graphic card is good for the value?

HDR is a postprocessing effect that happens in the TV, not in the graphics card. You don't need anything that supports HDR just a digital signal.

Okey, so as long as the movie i download has HDR content, it shouldn't be any problem? Doesn't have to update to windows 10 or anything? started to google a bit and it seems like windows 7 doesn't even support HDR.

If you're streaming a movie with HDR then yes it shouldn't be a problem. If it's on a disc then you need an UltraHD bluray player that supports it. If you've downloaded the movie then play it in the client you downloaded it from because AFAIK windows media player doesn't support it but I could be wrong.

Actually I was wrong. Looks like windows 10 will be getting native HDR support in 2017 and for now you can only stream HDR content with HDCP 2.2 enabled hardware, which means an UltraHD bluray player or streaming device like a Roku or something. Read this it should clear up everything.

guess il have to upgrade to windows 10, as i am reading, i seem not to be the only one confused about this 4k, UHD, hdmi 2.0 and 2.0a.

I'm pretty sure they're intentionally making it confusing so that people just cave and buy the hardware

straight out from the nvidia live support.

Nvidia customer service: Unfortunately, the 2.0a is not supported on GeForce 900 series cards.

Nvidia customer service: Yes, the 2.0A supports is only on GeForce 10 series cards and if you are looking for 10 bit, then its only limited to Quadro series cards.

seems like i must buy a new graphic card, what should i go for AMD rx 460 or nvidia 1050? I am very satisfied with my msi 950 now, very very quiet. But the 460 is a bit cheaper, what are your thoughts?

Probably 460 if all you're doing is video and not gaming. You might even be able to sell the 950 for $70+
