Graphic Cards compatibility for MAC PRO 2008

Hello,

I just got an old MAC PRO 2008 with an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT. I'm looking to upgrade the graphic card to have a better performance with 3d and video software.

Which graphic cards over 2gb would be compatible with this computer?

Apple support lists the next graphic cards, but they are all under 1.5 gb

Maybe a Radeon HD 7870? Recognized as a D500 and most likely not bottlenecking.
