Hello guys, I'm using a second hand Optiplex 780 case with a PSU 235W supply and a Geforce 310 🙁
On the Geforce website it says my Geforce 310 needs 30.5W supply and Minimum System Power Requirement 300W but I find it normal to use my Geforce 310 with 235W supply (Model: l235p-01). So what is mininum system power requirement really mean?

Can I upgrade my VGA to GTX 750 which need 55 W supply and minimum system power requirement 300 W? Will it fit my small form factor case?

What is the different between PCI-E 2.0 and PCI Express 3.0 Bus support? If I correct, all VGA can plug in all motherboard right ??

Here is the picture of my PSU

Thank you for the help :) (sorry for my bad English)

Solution

its the amps the power supply can deliver from the +12v rail that matters to the gpu

a 750 needs at least 20 amps minimum

pcie 3.0 cards are backwards compatible, it's perfectly fine in a 2.0 slot

i suggest buying a bigger case that would let you have a normal sized power supply so you could have a better video card

I can unplug my motherboard from my current case and put it in my new case normally right ?

yes, just make sure the case is big enough to hold it

just to be sure which 780 case do you have?

the 3rd one from left to right

then you have the "desktop"

yes you would benefit a lot by going with a nice tower case
