Hello all!

We have a computer here at work that is presenting some display issues. I can't pinpoint what the problem is and that is why I ask for your help.

This pc, which has an i3-2100 and a H61 Chipset, was lying around because it malfuncioned and when another pc broke down another employee put the latter one's hd in the former and it worked despite the driver differences.

It didn't take long for it to give some colorful screens or not to display anything at all, not even BIOS, soI thought it could be malcontact since the only graphics it had was onboard, and since it's an i3 2100 the graphics come from the processor. i removed the processor and put it back on and it works, gives display screen again. Strangely enough sometimes as soon as it loads the OS (Win XP) and goes to the desktop screen it'll give the display issue again, with lots of flashing colors and etc.

So my question is, what could this be? Is it more possible that this is the processor, motherboard or driver issue? I was planning to format this pc so I could make a clean install and start with the right foot, but there's no point in doing so if it won't work..

Any help is appreciated!

PS: Forgot to say, I checked the temps and it all seemed fine..

Unfortunately I had tried this already and it didn't work. I tried clean installing Windows 7 and it was of no use. When if finished installing and was about to start the system it would all go black and the computer would shut down. Then I would try to turn it on and it would appear very strange, sometime it wouldn't, sometimes it would, then turned off automatically and waited 2-secs and it power back automatically also! It was very strange, so I even tried to swap the psu with another one that was lying around but it also didn't solve anything. So now I believe it's either the mobo or the cpu. Any ideas?
