Ok, don't know if i'm posting in the right place. I just built a new machine (specs below). But when i'm working, either goin between applications or just closing an application i get graphical freezes/lags (sometimes keyboard/mouse lock ups) I'm not sure if its the app, the OS, or the hardware. I dont' really know what to tell you guys, anyways help would be appreciated.

system:

i7 920
asus
p6t6 revolution
6 gig g. skill 1600 ( running at 1033) cl9
1 tb WD caviar green
evga gtx 280
windows xp 64
bit

The temps seem normal, no viruses, all drivers are up to date. haven't updated to the latest bios yet. Mostly using After effects, and other CS3 apps. Thoughts guys?

thanks...

Im having similar issues, freeze in games, on start up and running prime 95
i think it may have something to do with the graphics drivers.

What wattage is ur PSU?

my psu is 700watt, i havent played any games on this machine yet, or run prime 95. I've updated to the lastest driver. it just seems weird, to have all these hi-end components and to have such an annoying glitch. Is there some setting i need to configure?

Yeah ive got a 1000w with a GTX 295, i think it could be the drivers although i did a fresh windows install last night and it still freezes after about an hour in p95. Maybe the mobo's software i assume you installed the EPU 6 manager and turbo-v?

i just installed the newest driver 182.05 beta. seems to run better, less stutters and such. i do have the mobo software installed but i dont' run it. i end the processes after start up. Everything still runs at standard speeds and temps. OH well, could be im not use to PCs/windows environment. First machine in 6 years.

I got into Vista x64 for a minute or two. I changed every little setting I could and applied every performance tweak that I could find. I installed SP1 as well.

I have a 4gb of RAM, 3.0ghz Q6600, 9800gt 512mb. Perhaps not top of the line but more than sufficient to run Vista. I noticed the same thing as you, small system hicups when opening/closing anything. Add degraded game performance and I couldn't handle it anymore. I had the latest drivers as well. I'm now back to XP and everything runs nice and smooth.

I installed Win7 on another partition and it is much better than Vista as far as these small annoyances go. Not to mention there is no degraded game performance.

Hopefully your issue goes away.
